Lake Como, never far

Delia2Lake Como is less than 1.5 hours by plane from virtually any European airport. It is served by 3 Milan airports, Bergamo, Linate, and Malpensa. There is also Lugano airport in Switzerland that is just an hour away. You can choose from scheduled airlines and budget operators, and choose from around hundreds flights everyday.

By road, most of the main southerly motorways serve the main routes into Como and rail links are good too.

Maybe that's why Como is such a favourite of the well heeled, rich and famous as you are never far from any major European city, but far enough to experience one of Europe’s most glorious and exclusive locations.

Lombardy (Lombardia) is the wealthiest and most prosperous region in Italy and is home to the fashion capital of the world - Milan which offers some of the greatest shopping experiences you could ever imagine.  However aside from the fashion industry, the Lombardy  region is also rich in heritage, culture, the arts, architecture and most notably its natural beauty. It is no coincidence therefore that Lombardy offers some of the most refined and luxurious holiday destinations in Europe, or indeed the world.

This region occupies most of the Po Valley, is bordered by the Alps and includes the vast Stelvio national park. Thierefore it makes the region the perfect base to enjoy the great Italian lakes, including the jewel that is Lake Como.  Lombardy and in particular Lake Como, has all of the ingredients that are essential for the perfect individual holiday; it has architecture, culture, fashion and style, sports, and natural beauty. Serviced by 3 major airports; Malpensa, Linate and Bergamo and with excellent road and rail links, the region can be explored and enjoyed to the full with ease.

Over the centuries the region has been shaped by periods of peace, conflict, natural erosion and political change. The effect is stunning as a myriad of cultures, countries, and climates that meet at the lake to give off a unique and amazing glow.

In times past, the great and good have retreated to the lakes, and in particular Lake Como, to recuperate, relax and enjoy a rare alliance of Mediterranean climate and alpine freshness.  Lake Como is without doubt the quintessential Italian lake. It captures the essence and spirit that makes the lake region so alluring. Steeped in history it really is the Lake of lakes. Lake Como.

Lake Como is now one of the most fashionable places in Europe with residents including George Clooney and Michael Schumacher amongst others.
